*Escapism Escalates*

Image
Up to a while ago, I used to have the privilege of plugging in my earphones and kinda blocking out everything in my life that went wrong when it did. for reasons we won't discuss  I don't have that anymore. Whenever I have an actual problem, it turns out I'd rather rip my hair out than deal with it without almost going deaf. I'd rather close myself off to reality than dealing with these emotions ('coz we know that those are a wild ride). It's easier than feeling. It's definitely easier than letting all of the neurotransmitters in my head go bonkers while I sit here not knowing how to deal with it. It's easier to analyse the Herondale family going back seven generations even though they don't exist. Ya........... That's escapism. An d weirdly, up until this second, I didn't even realize it was an issue I had. The dictionary definition is " the tendency to seek distraction and relief from unpleasant realities, especially b...

Down Memory Lane

Image
memories are liquid. they tend to slip us by, they are tinged with what we feel at recall, and they take the shape we want them to. you don't realize the depth of a memory at first glance. but then you mull over it a bit, and the kaleidoscope surfaces. you turn it this way and that, just reveling in all the things it can show you from a single situation. you examine it, and time becomes your magnifying glass. every memory has more meaning as the time passes, like a bottle of old wine that can get you drunk on past, better, simpler times. they can be a storm riddled sea or a tranquil lake. either way, you sink beneath the surface and lose sight of what's real. you see turmoil or you see calm. you see the the recollection as crystal clear or as spider-webbed with the ripples of your disturbed conscience. your state of mind is your lens. a memory is a page in a journal. its reopened and opened until its old and worn and falling apart. it may have its own ink splotches a...

The Puzzle That is Beauty

Hullo guys! I'm soooo sorry I can't give you a drawing, but I'm away from home at the moment. But; I have one more Just Thoughts, and this one means quite a lot to me. So, here it is, The Puzzle That is Beauty. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a lazy Sunday morning, and my family and I were parked in front of the television. As we watched, one of the most renowned beauty pageants in India began airing. A thought struck me, as I watched the contestants with their flawless skin and flowing locks. Not how ravishing the dresses were, or the confidence with which the competitors carried themselves - what struck me was exactly how manufactured all of it was. It all seemed so artificial, so manmade. Even the performances with the shining lights, they all seemed tailored and manipulated as to appeal only to the parts of us that crave perfection and nothing else. When you're younge...

The Dummies' Guide to Expression

Image
Hullo! Back with a new post. So sorry it couldn't be a drawing, but I promise that's coming soon too. More on today's topic, a "Dummies' Guide" is essentially something difficult or challenging to understand, explained in layman's terms. I'm gonna explain expression using writing in the way that I conceive it. To most people, writing is an art shrouded with the misconception that 'only those who can do it can it.' It is actually quite contrary. Expression comes from within, and it is important to know how to do it, rather than thinking you don't have the talent. And of course, you can't express without language. The limits of your language are the limits of your world. And a different language is a different vision of the world. The first step is to know the language well. Vocabulary, grammar, you must know everything like the back of your own hand. This may sound really intimidating, but its not that arduous. As the saying goes, pra...

Rumors, Myths, Stories.........

Image
Hullo!! So, I know I said after exams, but I got an amazing idea and really didn't know if my brain would decide to retain it until after April 12, so here I am!!! 💚💛 My topic for today is Rumors, Myths and Stories. This has a lot more to write on than you think at first glance. Think about the last time that you passed on a story to someone. It may have been funny, or entertaining, or informational. That's no problem.   Now,   think about some tiny detail that you might have gotten wrong. As we humans are impossible social animals, we can be quite sure that this story is gonna get passed on to at least one person. What if that person gets one more tiny detail wrong? We all know where this chain is going. We've all   experienced  this at some point of time.   May have even contributed to it.  It's one of the reasons Chinese Whispers is such a laugh. I'm sure all of you are thinking, what DOES this have to do with rumors? Well, it's what happens when ...

Just Thoughts

So as the title suggests, I'm gonna be doing something a bit different today. I normally blog on things that are really concrete and easy to put into a box with a title, etc etc. Today's blog is just some thoughts I've had in my head forever, but I don't think it falls into a category.  It's Just Thoughts. The first thing, why do people always think from only one side of the story? This applies in many situations. Books, real life, reel life. And, more than often its the side that the story is being told from. nobody thought about how Peter Pettigrew had been compelled to join Voldemort only because he was the one overlooked from the Marauders. Nobody thought about how in Mahabharata, Duryodhana fought that war only because he had been told, in fact, assured that he would be king. All his life. That idea is quite frankly very debated, but my sister and I have had too many discussions on it to be ignored. Second, why is 'A first impression a last impression?...
