Words Come to Life

Hullo!!! I'm soooooo Sorry I haven't written for a while, but how could I help it? I had no good ideas and none of my essays really seemed good enough. After all, its quality to quantity. But, here I am with a new story. So, enjoy!!

Words Come To Life

As I entered the ramshackled house, I saw something really strange. The roaring fireplace was crackling in the fireplace, although the place had probably not been tended to in forever. I noticed a patch of silvery light on the couch. As I watched, it shimmered and took on a human shape. I ran out of the shack and into the dark shadows.

I think that I did a pretty good job on that. This was an extract from my new book, and I just got back from the reading for it. By the way, my name is Annabelle Jenkins and I write horror stories. I stepped into my comfortable and frankly quite large apartment, but I was startled to see a thin layer of dust all over my possessions. Even more surprisingly, my usually spotless chandelier was covered in cobwebs. And since when was my couch that colour? My blood ran cold. This scene was disturbingly familiar; it was the setting for my new book. I felt a chilly touch on my neck, like someone was whispering. I soon realised, there was whispering. Disembodied voices rang around the living room, taunting and making snide comments. As I watched in horror, the exact scenario repeated itself. A silvery patch of moonlight that had managed to evade my dark curtains shimmered on the couch and took on a vaguely humanoid shape. What I saw was too grotesque to describe. My abode no longer felt welcoming and warm. The whole place gave off a dark and malevolent vibe. The musky scent of rotten flowers assaulted my nostrils. I noticed apparitions hovering in the next room, all barely visible. That is, except for their glowing dark eyes, which stared at me with hatred.
I could bear it no longer.

If I had stayed there a moment longer, I don’t know whether I would have retained my sanity for any longer. Nevertheless, I darted out of the apartment, and vowed never to return to the sinister place. My neighbors told me howling could be heard all night. I made a decision to spend the night at my best friend’s home. My goose bumps refused to go away, even the next morning. I just needed some solitude to clear my head, but that wasn’t possible. I have an appointment with a therapist for my ‘hallucinations’, but in my heart, I know it’s true. My words have come to life.
